I am writing to ask you to join me in a program that helps alleviate hunger for members of our community. I’ve been participating in A SIMPLE GESTURE -- a door-to-door food collection program that helps neighbors and friends provide a steady stream of non-perishable items to area food pantries. It's so easy! Nationally, the demand at food banks is up over 30%. Sadly, the demand for food at our pantries has increased 100%. At the same time, the supply of low-cost food is dwindling. Here’s what you can do: 1. Visit the A Simple Gesture website at www.CoolGreenBag.org to sign up. 2. They drop a cool, green, reusable, canvas bag off at your house. 3. Each week when you go shopping, buy one extra non-perishable food item. 4. Store it in your cool, green bag. 5. On the first Saturday morning of every other month leave the bag out for collection.
